I found this video on YouTube while searching for some UFO footage. It's a scene from Steven Spielberg's movie Jaws, with the boat out on the ocean. Around the thirty second mark, you can see a bright object enter the top left portion of the screen and streak towards the bottom right, but disappears behind the cloud cover in the background.
The skeptic in me has me thinking meteorite or space debris entering the Earth's atmosphere. But for something that bright, it would have to have been a rather large object. There is always the possibility of it being some sort of alien spacecraft (perhaps it was part of the cast from Close Encounters which was released two years after Jaws) but given the trajectory I highly doubt it. Still I find it interesting that this was left in the shot. Perhaps Spielberg didn't see it at the time and decided to leave it in instead of having to reshoot.

May be a bit off topic, but I think a movie about killer sharks from outer space would be awesome. Spielberg needs to look into it...
I remember seeing that streak very prominently every time I've watched Jaws. I just figured it was a special effect deliberately thrown in to create some atmosphere. I'm pretty certain that's all it is.
I stand very much corrected. The imdb.com website has this entry under the "Trivia" section for the movie Jaws:
"According to The Making of Steven Spielberg's 'Jaws' (1995) (V) documentary, the shooting star that appears during the night scene where Brody loads his revolver was real, not an optical effect."
There's a second note where it references it as a meteor.
Given its motion and trajectory I'd say that's all it is. There's no change in directions that would suggest the object is being controlled somehow.
I contacted Universal Studios and asked them questions about the UFOs in this scene and the scene right before this scene. They told me both scenes were filmed off Martha's Vineyard in the DAYTIME! They altered the film to make it appear to be at night. They told me that to their knowledge Spielberg did NOT put any UFOs in these scenes. I told them I was going to do a short documentary about UFOs in Jaws in which I would examine these two scenes and they refused to give me permission and told me if I did the documentary that they would sue me because they did not want the movie Jaws to be associated with UFOs. When I did a frame by frame analysis of the UFO in the first head shot scene the UFO is lenticular shaped and goes behind the mast and all the ship's ropes before it goes behind the head and comes back out below the right ear. The UFO remains lenticular shaped though out the entire scene. In the next scene the UFO appears at the top left corner and is the same lenticular shape as the UFO in the previous scene. The UFO moves slowly downwards at approximately a 45 degree angle until it disappears into a fog bank. It moves much too slowly to be a meteor. Just before the UFO enters the fog bank a flash of light can be seen in the fog bank exactly where the UFO is heading. When you freeze the frame containing the flash of light you will see that the flash of light is another lenticular shaped object that looks exactly the same as the UFO. When you examine the frames right after the UFO enters the fog bank the UFO can be seen in the fog bank itself. All of this would be very difficult and expensive to do just to add a signature shooting star as some people have claimed. The only way the question of whether or not Spielberg added the UFOs to the movie Jaws will be answered is for Spielberg to publicly state whether or not he did add them. I've tried to contact Spielberg to ask him whether or not he added the UFOs but have been unsuccessful.
saw space junk equal to 150 of those streaks(like a banner)over Pikes Peak one morning......lasted 7-10 seconds....
